From 15 December 2024, the number of IC Brussels trains will be doubled. The old IC Brussels that ran every hour has been replaced by the EuroCity and EuroCity Direct, both of which also run every hour. The EuroCity Direct will run with the new ICNGs between Lelystad and Brussels and after Amsterdam Zuid will only stop at Schiphol, Rotterdam Centraal, Antwerp Centraal and Brussels-Zuid/Midi. The EuroCity is operated with Traxxes with Belgian I11 carriages and will run between Rotterdam Centraal and Brussels-Zuid/Midi and will stop at all stations where the old IC Brussels also stopped, such as Breda. From Schiphol, the EuroCity Direct reaches Brussels Zuid in 1 hour and 14 minutes, which is 44 minutes faster than the old trains. However, this timetable is still set at 160 km/h and later the timetable speed will be increased to 200 km/h. The I11 carriages were delivered to the NMBS by Bombardier in Bruges between 1995 and 1997. Bombardier delivered 163 carriages of the type I11 to the NMBS. The delivery consisted of 36 first class carriages, 106 second class carriages and 21 second class cab control cars with luggage compartment. The trains that will be used for the EuroCity services consist of 6 I11 carriages, including one first class carriage and a cab control car. The cab control car is used as a normal carriage and there are a BR186 on both sides of the train. The new BR188 is expected to be delivered to the NMBS by Alstom from the beginning of 2026. These locomotives will take over the EuroCity services from the BR186s as HLE17. The BR188 have a maximum speed of 200 km/h instead of 160 km/h. The cab control cars will also be used, which means that only one locomotive will be needed per train. View our photo report via: https://www.mp-produktie.nl/2024-12-1...
