The "Lower Silesian Main Line" from Roßlau via Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Falkenberg (Elster) to Węgliniec (formerly Kohlfurt) is an important route for German-Polish freight traffic. The almost 70-kilometer-long section east of Knappenrode has only been operated as a single track since the post-war period due to reparations and with predominantly mechanical signal box technology until well into the new millennium. As part of a total closure, the "Horka track" was expanded to two tracks and electrified between 2012 and 2018. This film describes the history of the route, the rocky road to expansion and the associated changes, and in the last section also highlights some largely unknown oddities.
