Considered the largest food company in the world, Nestlé has products that are part of the lives of millions of people and are also a source of great curiosity. After all, how did the company that has food products from A to Z come about? It all started in the city of Vavey, Switzerland in the second half of the 19th century, when Swiss pharmacist Henri Nestlé started working on a formula to help combat child malnutrition, which was common in Europe at the time. The idea was to obtain a food that was cheap, easy to store and that could provide a basic range of nutrients. This is how he combined milk with sugar and wheat flour, arriving at what we know as dairy flour. Initially the invention was used to help children who had eating problems. And before long, the idea became a business. The product began to be sold in 1866 under the name Nestlé Milk Flour. And in its early days it gained notoriety for having a kind of medical function, given its ability to recover children who suffered from malnutrition. And, best of all, the product was considerably cheap. Little by little, the now Nestlé company not only gained new customers but also maintained strict quality control of its product. Every effort was designed to make production increasingly better and more hygienic, with a focus on consumer health.
