In the province of Taligana, there was a powerful king who lost his son in battle. His sadness and loneliness caused him to neglect himself and the kingdom. Lahur Sessa was a young Brahmin, the name given to Indian priests. Driven by the CHALLENGE of getting the king out of that situation, Sessa created a board game and went to the palace to try to show his invention to the king, who agreed to meet him. The pieces represented troops from the Indian army, and after playing for several hours, the king realized that he was faced with something that would bring him spiritual comfort, so he said that the priest could ask for anything as a reward. Lahur replied that he wanted nothing, but when he insisted, he said that he would accept his reward in wheat. The priest explained that he wanted one grain of wheat for the 1st square of the board, two for the 2nd, four for the 3rd, and so on, calculating double for each subsequent square. The king thought the request was naive, but the result was an absurdly high number, which not even the entire harvest of the kingdom over many years would be enough to cover. Thus, the king learned that one cannot promise something that one cannot fulfill, and, impressed by the Brahmin's intelligence, he invited him to be the chief advisor of the kingdom. In fact, the game presented to the king was CHATURANGA, which later spread to Persia, China and Europe, until it acquired the name CHESS and was complemented by several characteristics that make it up today. The current form of the game emerged in southwestern Europe in the second half of the 15th century and is composed of the pawn, rook, knight, bishop, queen and king pieces.
