The Petit Train d'Artouste is a narrow gauge tourist railway located in the French Pyrenees, close to the Spanish border. Providing access to the Lac d'Artouste, a lake in the mountains at an altitude of almost 2000 m, the line is 10 km long and was originally built for the Compagnie des Chemins de Fer du Midi (CFM) who built a series of hydroelectric power stations in the Ossau Valley between 1920 and 1932. After completion of these works, the CFM recognised the tourist potential of the line and the first tourist trains were put into operation. The Petit Train is now reached by cable car from a lower station at Artouste-Fabrèges.
