THE HAYDRAWERS OF SCHMIRN gives an authentic picture of the deprived life in the countryside in the 1950s. The farming methods of the time, especially in the mountain regions, were primarily manual work and demanded everything from the farmers. The whole family had to pitch in to make a living. The documentary filmmaker Guggenbichler (1924-2009) accompanies a Schmirn mountain farming family at work, such as the strenuous haymaking on the steep slopes, and also shows the unspectacular everyday life on the farm.
