BARDEJOVSKÉ KÚPELE Local developers plan to build up to 250 apartments in 15 new apartment buildings in Bardejovské Kúpeľé in the near future. This is an attractive natural location between the Dobrý les lake and the Družba medical institute of the Ministry of the Interior in close proximity to healing mineral springs. In mid-November of this year, they began digging the foundations for the first, so-called apartment building, on Dušan Karašinský's private land in Bardejovské Kúpeľé. The management of the joint-stock company Bardejovské Kúpele is sounding the alarm and talking about a dangerous precedent that may threaten the very essence of the functioning of the world-famous spa, including endangering the healing springs of mineral waters and the unique climate. The Municipal Building Office in Bardejovské, which issued the building permit for the construction, refers to the non-objectionable opinion of the Ministry of Health and is sending state building supervision to the construction. The owner of the building does not respond to our questions. According to the Act on Natural Medical Spas, it is prohibited to build apartment buildings and other objects in the inner spa area whose function is in conflict with the function of the inner spa area. According to the management of Bardejovské Kúpelé, the construction of apartment buildings is also in conflict with the valid zoning plan of the city and the spa zone. However, the developers argue that these are not apartment buildings but apartment buildings. However, the Building Act does not recognize the term "apartment building". In any case, these are also spaces or houses intended for living. The function of an apartment building is therefore exactly the same as the function of an apartment building. According to the management of Bardejovské Kúpelé, development activities are already causing devastation of the spa with construction mechanisms, noise, dust and burdening the spa environment with the entry and traffic of motor vehicles. Moreover, the entire location where the developers want to build is located in a very risky landslide area, where several dangerous landslides have already occurred in the recent past.
