Cranes are very large birds that, with their long necks and long legs, look like storks and herons. The photos were taken in Germany. Cranes fly in a V formation at altitudes of around 2000 m, and in exceptional cases even 10,000 m. They typically cover 300 km in one day, sometimes even 800 km. They fly at speeds of 60 to 80 km/h. Cranes can be found on all continents of the world except Antarctica and South America. Cranes are diurnal birds that are most active in the morning and evening. At night they rest on the ground (Gruinae). While they are solitary during the breeding season, they are otherwise sociable birds that appear in large flocks. ❗️ Come on a workshop photo trip with me!
