Leo Tolstoy was born on September 9, 1828, and died in 1910 after running away from home without a set travel itinerary. In his 82 years of life, the great writer of Russian literature lived countless adventures and had many facets: count, aristocrat, writer, bohemian, soldier, educator, vegetarian, spiritual... the list is huge! He lost his parents during his childhood, and became an orphan at the age of 10. From then on, he was raised by his aunts and studied with tutors from France, Germany, and England. The thirst for knowledge is a trait that runs through the entire career of the Russian author, who always dedicated himself to learning new things, often studying independently. Such dedication to his studies soon bore fruit, and he became famous in his youth, when he published the book Tales of Sevastopol: a collection of short stories about the Crimean War, in which Tolstoy served as a soldier. His passion for learning is also evident in his educational side – Tolstoy developed primers based on his own teaching method and these were used by the Russian government to teach children to read and write. Tolstoy lived a very diverse life and his books are a reflection of this. However, all of them, however different they may be, seek something that is intrinsically human: the truth. ✨ Discover the EXTRAORDINARY life of Leo Tolstoy, one of the greatest writers of Russian Literature ► Discover the books by Leo Tolstoy mentioned in the video: – Childhood, adolescence, youth: https://amzn.to/3ijfegA – Tales of Sevastopol: https://amzn.to/3mjLYZA – Anna Karenina: https://amzn.to/3m7Uue3 – War and Peace: https://amzn.to/3k324on – The Death of Ivan Ilyich: https://amzn.to/2ONOc3A ► Discover Antofágica's first course, Journey through Russian Literature.
