This epistle includes Abu Al-Ala's views on religion, science, and morals, and on the methods and arts of peoples. He wrote it in response to the epistle of Ibn Al-Qarih, who made him a knight riding the horse of his imaginary epistle in which he dialogued with poets, writers, and linguists. Abu Al-Ala begins his epistle by mentioning the good effect of Ibn Al-Qarih's epistle on himself, then gives free rein to his wild imagination; It describes to us the status that Ibn Al-Qarih has reached in the afterlife, and it classifies the ranks of poets in Heaven and Hell, with what interceded for them from poems that brought them down to the homes of the gardens of Paradise, such as Zuhair bin Abi Salma.
