The young couple Starace moved to a real working-class neighbourhood in Ridderkerk a few years ago. There is a low fence between their garden and that of neighbour Stok. Mrs Stok finds it pleasant and cosy. It is also normal in the neighbourhood. But the Starace family finds the neighbour a busybody and needs privacy. Without consultation, they nail a 1.80 metre fence to the old, low fence. Neighbour Stok does not appreciate this. You don't do something like that without consultation, she thinks. When Mrs Stok starts sawing off poles, causing the new high fence to wobble, all hell breaks loose. The Travelling Judge is called in and it turns out that there is a whole laundry list of other problems with these neighbours. Mr Reid has the pleasant task of providing legal clarity and restoring peace.
