The film, based on Slovak folklore, tells a story from the middle of the 17th century, when the Turks made their forays into Central Europe. During one of them, they kidnap a well-born Mrs. Dóciová (Kveta Stražanová), whom none of the local residents have the courage to save. Except for two musicians from Sebechleb, Peter (Pavel Trávníček) and Jakub (Stano Dančiak). However, since they do not speak Turkish and do not know the way, they are joined by their lifelong protector, Father Klimo (Viliam Polónyi). The three intrepid heroes then set out on a journey to Constantinople and bravely overcome many obstacles and dangers on their way to freeing a noble lady from the harem of Pasha Hussein (Ctibor Filčík). One of their arch-enemies is the Turkish commander Selim (Andy Hryc), who promises them cruel revenge for his own humiliation. Fortunately, self-made musicians do not have empty hands and are not dependent only on themselves. They will be saved by new musical instruments, which are endowed with extraordinary magical power.
