After World War II, one of the best aircraft carriers was built for the US Navy, the USS Oriskany, also known as “the Mighty”, named after the Battle of “Oriskany” during the Revolutionary War. The aircraft carrier was built according to the “Essex” class design with a long hull, but its construction was stopped in 1946 when the ship was almost 85% complete. The design was reworked as a prototype for a modernization program and finally put into service in 1950 after being transformed into an updated design called “27-Charlie” and became the model for the modernization of 14 other “Essex” class ships. #Pandora IT#
