FRYKTORIES, in collaboration with the Friends of the People company, present the speech: "The decoding of the philosophical visual intervention "Untitled" by Yannis Moralis at the University Station of the Athens Metro" Speaker: Charalambos Ch. Spyridis. Professor at the University of Athens, Dean of the International Scientific Society of Ancient Greek Philosophy, Vice-President of the Society for the Study of Ancient Greek Mythology. -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- -------------------- BRIEF PRESENTATION OF THE SUBJECT During our movement in the big cities we necessarily use at least one means of transport, either individual or mass transport. As far as possible, the metro is the main ecological mode of public transport. Therefore, metro stations become daily places of forced temporary coexistence for tens of thousands of people, basically strangers to each other, as they wait for the train that will serve them. Attiko Metro SA he thought of exploiting the "healing" properties of works of art as a way of escaping us from the brutality of everyday life - at least when we are in a metro station or stations. He thought of integrating art into the everyday life of citizens, decorating the waiting areas for trains in the metro stations with works of art by great artists, turning them into exhibitions or galleries of works of art. In the artistic creation "Untitled" by Yiannis Moralis at the Athens University Metro stop, Line 2, the symbol reappears promoted by a modern aesthetic, containing hidden within it a secret with timeless and cryptonominal power, which few know. In this way, the oracle Moralis competes with famous soothsayers and ancient Greek tragic and comic poets, because the enigma he posed to us is great so far. I believe that the philosopher and artist Moralis, inspired by myths of the ancient Greek past with timeless power and maintaining contact with the contemporary social reality of the surrounding area, composes ideological depictions with motifs related to the sacred mosque of the Muses, i.e. the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- -------------------- BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE http://users.uoa.gr/~hspyridis/ --------------- -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ----- For any information or complaint, please inform us at the main website: http://www.fryktories.net ---------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------
