I seem to hear people say to him: "You smoked some good Paul to worship a King who was seen dead, nailed naked on a cross!" He was hated, detested and ridiculed for that. Today, would we be afraid to talk about The Cross so as not to be ridiculed too? So, we talk instead about the problems of society and humanity...maybe to be better accepted? Paul could just as well have spoken about the resurrection, about life. The death of Jesus must be the heart of the Gospel because sin is an offense to God and Christ saved us from our sins. (Sin = rejection of the authority of the Creator and King.) To do this he had to go through The Cross because God's intention was to remake the world. So, if we are to understand what Jesus accomplished at The Cross, we must understand that sin is a personal offense against God that demands and requires judgment. Obviously, this is not a popular message but a necessary one. "He who believes in him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God."
