The testimony in the documentary «Genoa: the bridge of rebirth», broadcast on Monday 15 February at 9 pm on the History Channel (channel 407 on Sky), which shows the images of the morning of the collapse and the story of the reconstruction of the bridge «That morning it was raining heavily, my colleague Luigi and I started to make our round of deliveries as usual». Thus begins the story of Gianluca Ardini, one of the survivors of the tragedy of the Morandi bridge, which collapsed on the morning of 14 August 2018: there were 43 victims. «We were supposed to make the penultimate delivery - Ardini recalls -. At a certain point I heard a very loud thunder, I was looking at the tablet and I heard my colleague Luigi who was driving say "What's happening?". I raised my head and, like in the movies, I saw the asphalt opening up. And we sank down». Ardini's colleague, 35-year-old Luigi Matti Altadonna (here are the portraits of the victims who lost their lives while going to work or on vacation), will die in the crash, Ardini will remain next to his body for 4 long hours, trapped in the wreckage, before being rescued by firefighters. The images of his rescue, together with the stories of the survivors and relatives of the victims, are included in the documentary "Genoa: the bridge of rebirth", broadcast on Monday 15 February at 9 pm on History Channel (channel 407 on Sky). The documentary retraces the history of the collapse and construction of the new San Giorgio bridge, designed by Renzo Piano, from the design to the inauguration, focusing on the work that hundreds of people, including engineers, technicians and workers, carried out in very complex conditions, if we also consider the outbreak of the pandemic. The new viaduct was built paying particular attention to the hydrogeological conditions and the corrosive effects caused by the salty air brought by the wind from the sea. These are some of the factors that have contributed to the weakening of the structure of the Morandi Bridge.
