The 1946-49 Civil War was related to national integration because it concerned Greek Macedonia and its preservation by the Greek state. This is what the vast majority of citizens fought for. The KKE found itself completely dependent on the "brother" parties, the Yugoslavs and especially the Slavo-Macedonians, who in the end constituted the majority of the so-called DSE. They were finally promised "full national restoration", which was equivalent to secession of part of the Greek territory.
