What to do on the coast of Bahia? Have you ever visited the community of Santo André, in Santa Cruz Cabrália? Where was the first mass celebrated in Brazil? What are the best dishes on the coast of Bahia? Have you ever heard of Cabrália? - This Sunday, Boa Sorte Viajante will air the third and final episode of a very special series on the coast of Bahia, and this time, the highlight is the city of Santa Cruz Cabrália, located about 690 km from Salvador. Do you know where the first mass was celebrated on Brazilian soil? This is one of the many curiosities of this episode. It was on the famous beach of Coroa Vermelha, located a little over 5 km from the city center, that the first Catholic mass took place on April 26, 1500, in the lands that were about to be colonized and catechized by Pedro Álvares Cabral's fleet. To learn a little more about the history of Santa Cruz Cabrália, we visited the city's historic center to talk to historian Sidrach Neto, a great scholar of documents from the colonial period. Continuing our journey, we arrived at the community of Santo André, which was the training center for the German national team during the 2014 World Cup, held in Brazil. The village is home to around 800 residents amidst the natural beauty of the mangroves along the riverbank and the coconut groves by the sea. One of the residents who has experienced the transformations that have occurred in Santo André over time is boatman Carlindo Pereira, who talks about the growth of tourism in the region. Another fellow countryman who is happy to live in this paradise is chef Thiago Paixão, who shows us how to prepare marinated guaiuba fish, caught in the community itself, as well as most of the ingredients used in his dishes. Near Santo André is the community of Guaiú, where we met the skilled artisan Lara Mascarenhas, creator of the brand “Jóias da Terra”, which makes clay and transforms it into ceramics and home decorations. #santacruzcabralia #cabralia #bahia ===================== WHO IS MATHEUS BOA SORTE? I am passionate about the cultural traditions of the Brazilian Northeast. To be more specific, the backlands, which I believe are much more than just a corner of Brazil where there is little rain. For me, the backlands are feelings, states of mind, of those who carry within themselves a smile, faith, persistence, courage and a little bit of mischief. I have a degree in advertising, and I pay my bills through art. I am a singer, composer, writer, speaker, educator, actor, TV host, radio host... A lot of things, right? But I can sum it all up in just one job: I AM A STORYTELLER.
