Groningen residents walk a lot. In the 47th episode of the City Walk, Beno Hofman and Mirre van de Klok visit the Gelkingestraat. The Gelkingestraat is one of the oldest streets in Groningen. The street runs from the Grote Markt to the Kleine Gelkingestraat. The street name is named after an influential family, namely the Gelkinge family. The Gelkinge family lived in Groningen around 1300 and were very important. Partly because they fought against the bishop of Utrecht. At that time, he had the power in Groningen. In this episode of the City Walk, Beno and Mirre pay attention to Wessel Gansfort, the many pubs that the Gelkingestraat had, but especially the overdue maintenance of the street. 'A worthless street!' says Beno laughing. Next week there will be no City Walk due to the elections, but a week later the duo will be back.
