Waldemar Chrostowski, an outstanding biblical scholar and winner of the Ratzinger Prize, tackles difficult questions about the contemporary crisis of the Church and the priesthood. In the face of increasingly frequent attacks on the Church and the clergy, also in Poland, Rev. Prof. Chrostowski thoroughly analyzes the causes of this phenomenon, pointing out the dishonesty of many of the accusations directed against priests. He emphasizes that these attacks often do not result from concern for truth or justice, but from a desire to weaken the community of believers and undermine the authority of the Church in society. Rev. Prof. Waldemar Chrostowski draws attention to the role of fear, which penetrates the heart of the Church, and which results in paralysis in proclaiming the Gospel and defending the truth. As he notes, the "frightened Church" loses the ability to be a witness to Christ, which leads to a weakening of faith among the faithful and a crisis of priestly vocations. Rev. Chrostowski particularly emphasizes the responsibility of bishops and the Pope himself for leading the Church in difficult times. Their task is to boldly stand in defense of the truth, even in the face of opposition from the world. The film also recalls the positive role models left by St. John Paul II and Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński. Thanks to their unwavering faith and attitude, the Church in Poland was able to not only survive during the most difficult years of the communist regime, but also be an oasis of hope and spiritual support. Modern times require similar courage and steadfastness, both from the hierarchy and ordinary believers. This film is a voice that not only diagnoses problems, but also inspires to overcome them. Rev. Prof. Chrostowski calls on the Church to have the courage that comes from faith in Christ and trust in His promises. The film is a warning, but also hope for the renewal of the Church in Poland and the world.
