Colonel Hannuksela's 19th division was established in Vaasa and Southern Ostrobothnia in June 1941. Reservists from several municipalities in Southern Ostrobothnia were assigned to it. Hannusela's division had Infantry Regiments 16, 37 and 58, as well as Field Artillery Regiment 10, Light Section 18, Pioneer Battalion 30, Relay Battalion 28, and the 266th Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun Company. The division's battalions and equipment were moved by trains and cars from Ostrobothnia to Pieksämäki and from there to Punkaharju. A total of 45 trains were needed for transportation. The battles of the Hannusela division began on July 10, 1941 in Kitee and it had difficulties advancing to the old Finnish Karelia. In August 1941, the fighting moved to the vicinity of the Laatoka beach and the attack ended with the battle of Rautalahti in August 1941. At the beginning of October, Hannuksela's division was moved to Valkeasaari in Kannas and from there to Rajajoki. The division was disbanded in the spring of 1942. For the video, I have taken photos from the websites of the National Museum Agency and the War Archives, and I have processed them into color images with the help of image processing programs. #Pohjanmaa #Kitee #Pälkjärvi #Matkaselkä #Ruskeala #Sortavala #Leppäsyrjä #Kaalamo #Kumurinmäki #Okanmäki #Kalaton #Vannisenmäki #Rautalahti #Valkeasaari #Rajajoki #
