The Blaueis is the northernmost glacier in the Alps and the lowest and steepest of the five remaining German glaciers. Since the middle of the 20th century, the glacier has been regularly surveyed by the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. Despite its shady location, the Blaueis only has a life expectancy of a few years. The 30 Geotope³ project aims to document the most visually appealing and scientifically significant outcrops in Germany. The focus is on digital and three-dimensional recording. The outcrops are georeferenced using cameras (including drones and 360-degree cameras), laser scanners and d-GPS. The individual locations have been presented monthly since February 2021 on the project website https://www.digitalgeology.de All data recorded as part of the project is made freely accessible. The project involves many geoscientific institutions, such as geoparks, state geological offices and universities, and is therefore cross-site. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Pape, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons, https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...
