“The Black City – Copșa Mică (Little Copșa)” was filmed in 1991. Ceauşescu’s socialism caused an environmental disaster in this small town that was unique in Europe. A soot factory and a heavy metal smelter poisoned a region with 100,000 people. The soot covered people and nature with an oily black film... A portrait of the Copsa Mica region when it was discovered in 1991, at a time when it could have been considered one of the half centuries in Europe, of a combination of soot-black metals and a black smoke factory.
