On a promontory, not far from the castle, stands the parish church with an adjoining cemetery as per Alto-Tesi tradition. The parish of Santa Maria Assunta is one of the oldest in the diocese. The construction of the new building, replacing the original parish church, began during the early stages of the First World War, designed by the Viennese architect Eduard Hütter. After interruptions due to war events, work resumed around 1926 and the solemn consecration was celebrated in November 1931. Archaeological excavations carried out in the second decade of the 21st century have allowed the discovery of finds dating back to pre-existing structures on the site of the parish church, and probably preceding the Romanesque building and dating back to the 1st century.
