It all started on November 29, 1989: that evening, several gendarme patrols observed unknown flying objects flying silently and at low altitude over the small town of Eupen. This was the beginning of the "Belgian UFO wave" that became famous throughout the world! Following this first incredible evening, hundreds, thousands of witnesses would observe UFOs in the Belgian sky. The description was almost always the same: Belgian UFOs were triangular, very large. They lit up the ground with large headlights. They flew very close to the ground, very slowly. They could hover, then were capable of dazzling accelerations. Even today, no known aircraft is capable of such performances. The Belgian Air Force wanted to know what it was. Misunderstandings? Secret prototypes? On March 30, 1990, two F-16s took off from the Beauvechain base to hunt down these mysterious UFOs. The chase will last 40 minutes and one of the two planes will bring back surprising radar echoes: the pursued UFO made changes in altitude and accelerations that were totally impossible for a conventional plane. And then, after two incredible years, the Belgian UFOs disappeared. Today, only fascinating archives remain on this 30-year-old story.
