After the negotiations broke down, Hideyoshi appointed Hidenaga Hashiba as commander-in-chief and launched an invasion from three directions. Motochika continued to resist by barricading himself in Shiroji Castle, but faced with an overwhelming difference in military strength, he was persuaded by his vassals and decided to surrender. As a result, a peace agreement was concluded on the condition that only Tosa was allowed to remain.
