We visited Fazenda Jaguari, currently called Santa Úrsula, it is the only property that has remained in the same family since its foundation, more than 200 years ago. The farm belonged to Antonio Correia Barbosa and Úrsula Franco de Andrade, whose granddaughter Luiza married João de Ataliba Nogueira, the Baron of Ataliba Nogueira. Before the arrival of coffee, in 1847, the farm produced six thousand arrobas of sugar per year. With the decline of the mills, it became a major coffee producer and years later, it invested in the production of cotton and cereals. Baron de Ataliba Nogueira was one of the founders and president of Companhia Mogiana for more than 20 years. During the Spanish Flu, he hosted Mogiana employees on the farm to avoid contagion as the disease ravaged Campinas. The property was also known for hosting personalities and intellectuals of the time. In 1914, the jurist, journalist, writer and politician, Rui Barbosa was with his wife and daughter, at Fazenda Santa Úrsula, being received by his friend and relative, Barão de Ataliba Nogueira. Count D'Eu and Emperor Dom Pedro II also visited the farm. The farmhouse still remains preserved and is part of the list of 20 historic buildings that are listed with a view to future listing. #google #agro #friends #curiosities #placesdanossaregiao #lnr #rural #collection #share #abandoned #farm
