This patient academy event is dedicated to the shoulder joint and the possibilities of artificial shoulder joint replacement. The focus is on shoulder problems that are either caused by wear and tear (osteoarthritis) or have rheumatic-inflammatory causes (arthritis). St. Josef-Stift has its own specialized departments for both types of cause, and Dr. Frank Horst (Orthopaedics and Traumatology Clinic) and Dr. Ludwig Bause (Rheumaorthopedics Clinic) invite you to this interdisciplinary patient academy. The two chief physicians explain how joint damage can occur. They address common types of injury and clinical pictures that can arise from wear and tear or from underlying rheumatic diseases. Prevention options are also touched upon, for example how strength training can prevent possible damage caused by overuse. Dr. Horst and Dr. Bause also explain when an artificial shoulder joint replacement is an option and what treatment options are available. In addition to the full and hemiprosthesis, they also explain the function and use of the cap prosthesis and the inverse prosthesis. Dr. Bork, chief physician at the rehabilitation center at St. Josef-Stift, focuses on the follow-up treatment. Depending on the findings and the needs of the patient, the rehabilitative follow-up treatment takes place immediately afterwards or is delayed. The aim is to quickly integrate the patient back into everyday life with functional exercises. Visit us online: www.st-josef-stift.de www.instagram.com/stjosefstift www.facebook.com/St.Josef.Stift
