Angel Petronel still works at the Gate of Heaven, but he is convinced that he deserves better service. His eternal tempter, the devil Uriáš, begins to tempt Petronel. All he has to do is pluck an apple from the Tree of Knowledge and he will know what only God knows! And the path to deserved recognition will be clear. But Petronel's argument with Uriáš over the apple of Knowledge ends ingloriously. In the scuffle, the precious fruit rolls all the way to Earth. Angel - the confused one and his friend the devil-tempter must rush into the world to find the apple of Knowledge and bring it back. On the eve of the feast of St. Nicholas, they get entangled in a strange rei. They meet little Anežka and her beautiful mother Magdalena, a gang of dishonest carolers, the sly Košťál and the likeable Párkař. Before they manage to find the apple and return it to where it belongs, they will have to experience a great adventure and go through several dangerous situations. And after a series of human and "divine" trials, our heroes finally discover that the path to knowledge leads primarily through themselves, through discovering the power of friendship, love and the ability to forgive.
