Ramanujan initially developed his own mathematical research in isolation, which was quickly recognized by Indian mathematicians. When his abilities became apparent to the wider mathematical community, centered in Europe at the time, he began his famous collaboration with the British mathematician G. H. Hardy. He rediscovered previously known theorems, as well as formulating numerous new propositions. During his short lifetime, Ramanujan was able to compile nearly 3,900 independent results (mostly identities and equations). Almost all of his findings have been shown to be valid, although some were already previously known. He achieved results that were both original and highly unconventional, such as Ramanujan's prime numbers and Ramanujan's theta function, which in turn have inspired a great deal of subsequent research towards what was the man who knew infinity... 0:00 Who is Srinivasa Ramanujan? 1:04 Ramanujan and the number Pi 2:53 Ramanujan's letter to Hardy 7:26 This is how Ramanujan calculated the number Pi #history #ramanujan #cambridge ????
