The film shows the Amandus mine in the municipality of Herscheid. It was only a month ago that the tunnel was discovered by a young local historian in November 1984. The trick to finding the tunnel was to interpret the description of the mine correctly. It said that the Amandus mine tunnel was on the northern corner of the house. The family of the previous owners had forgotten about it. Local historians from Herscheid, Plettenberg and Lüdenscheid searched in vain. The back wall of the old building was torn open and it was probed with poles, without success. The Höllmecke had an extension. The stable was also part of the building. It was finally discovered on the northern corner of the stable, to the amazement of everyone else. The tunnel is around 20 m long. No mining took place and after a short time, when it was noticed that the passage was becoming numb, the mothers gave up. Even 60 years later, during World War II, a sale did not take place. An investigation into the profitability of raw materials for the war economy in 1938 came to nothing. A few pictures and the circumstances of the tunnel are shown here in the short film. Have fun....
