Yesterday, a real festival of history, or rather warfare, was held in the Hangar in Matulji as part of the 9th International Meeting of Militaria Collectors. Organizer Damir Batistić took us through all three segments of this meeting, from exhibitors who exhibited at the yoga class to an exhibition of old military vehicles in the parking lot to the fair that was held in the event space itself. Among the exhibitors, we could see two associations, “Risovi” from Gorski Kotar and “Sabaka” from Rijeka, who presented airsoft to us. It is a sport or hobby where participants fight with weapons that look like real ones, but instead of lead, these weapons have 6-millimeter pellets, biodegradable ones that the weapon ejects using gas or electricity. Danijel Mrgan from the Ris Association told us in brief more or less everything you need to know if you are interested in simulating warfare in a real environment, and not in front of a computer console. We also spoke with the Association of Historical Reenactors Valter from Pula, who showed us and told us a bit about their passion for the militaria of World War II. Modeler Damjan Komarek from Rijeka showed us reenactments of the battle of the Croatian forces against the forces of the SAO Krajina. We could also see the Karlovac Honorary Platoon, which exhibited its maps of the attack on Karlovac in 1991 and photographs from that period. See what we saw and learned at this gathering in our video.
