The Assumption Cathedral of Vladimir is the city's cathedral. Built in the 12th century, the cathedral was the main cathedral of the entire Russian state. The following were buried in the Assumption Cathedral of Vladimir: Andrei Bogolyubsky, Vsevolod the Big Nest, Georgy Vsevolodovich Vladimirsky the Wonderworker, and Metropolitan Maxim of Kiev and All Rus'. The largest canvas of Andrei Rublev's frescoes has been preserved in the Assumption Cathedral of Vladimir.
