The only child of Prince Christopher of Greece and Denmark and Princess Francesca of Orléans, sister of Henry, Count of Paris. His father passed away when Michael was only one year old. He is also a first cousin of Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, who died in 2021, and an uncle of Charles, Prince of Wales, Queen Sofia of Spain and the former King of the Greeks, Constantine II. He is the only member of the former royal family of Greece who renounced his rights in order to marry his wife and who has Greek citizenship since he is registered in the census of the municipality of Athens as "Michael De Gres". He has published more than 20 books around the world, historical biographies and novels, while a French newspaper called him, in the 1980s, "the author of aviation bestsellers" since, as he said, almost all the passengers on the planes read his books during of flights. Together with his wife, they have founded in Greece the charity "Eliza" for abused children after the tragedy of little Eliza, who was murdered by her mother in New York, which marked them because Prince Michael and the wife they had taken over the expenses for her education.
