Mat headed to the West Coast of the United States and spent a whole day in the company of the Tesla Model X Plaid! He had already driven one in a 1/4 mile drag race from a standing start, and now he decided to evaluate how good it is in everyday use. Let's start with the design: it is almost identical to the regular Model X. From the outside, everything is pretty simple - the front, back and even the profile are also very minimalistic. Since Tesla initially made electric cars, they did not make decorative grilles in the front (and for good reason!). But the body panels themselves are a bit depressing - everything is askew. The design in the cabin is also very Spartan! Apart from a couple of buttons on the steering wheel, seats and doors, everything is controlled through the large system screen on the dashboard. It's good that it's easy to use and works quite quickly, but I would still like to have more separate buttons at hand while driving. As for the build quality, it's generally okay, but in some places it leaves much to be desired. Since this is a Plaid, the car has 6 seats (and only this version of the Model X). If you take the dual-motor regular Model X, it is available in different variations: 5, 6 or 7 seats. As for performance, the dual-motor Model X produces 676 hp, and the Plaid, equipped with three electric motors, can boast an astonishing 1,020 hp! Both versions have 95 kWh, which provides a claimed range of 560 km for the dual-motor model, and 542 km for the Plaid. The regular Model X costs around 102 thousand pounds, while the Plaid will cost 127 thousand pounds. The main question is: is it worth paying such money?! Or would you rather opt for another expensive, high-performance electric crossover? Watch Mat’s new review to find out!
