Let us pray today's Rosary to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary this Monday, DECEMBER 23, 2024, asking that we may have a heart like Theirs. On December 27, 1673, the day of St. John the Apostle, Margaret Mary Alacoque, who had been professed for only 14 months and was 26 years old, was as usual kneeling before the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, exposed in the chapel of the Visitation convent. It was the moment of the Lord's first great revelation to the future saint. “My Divine Heart,” said the Lord to Margaret Mary, “is so passionate with love for men, and in particular for you, that, not being able to contain within itself the flames of its ardent charity, it is necessary that it pour them out through you and manifest itself to them in order to enrich them with the precious gifts that I am revealing to you, which contain the sanctifying and salutary graces necessary to separate them from the abyss of perdition. I have chosen you as an abyss of unworthiness and ignorance, so that you may be entirely my work.” From that moment until our days – when it is growing – devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has not ceased to gain followers, common and very simple people, people of high rank and grave responsibilities, all want to follow the indication of the ejaculation that says thus: “Jesus, meek and humble of Heart, make my heart like yours.” It is a question of a similarity, not of equality. The Catholic philosopher Dietrich von Hildebrand points out that this prayer “applies everything we know about the meaning of the imitation of Christ.” And later he indicates that “the transformation in Christ that this imitation implies consists in making us holy.” It is the Christian ethos; the way of being that God wants from us and that Saint Margaret Mary put it this way: “As love makes lovers one, if you want to be loved by Jesus you must be meek like Him, and humble like Him.” It was not until June 11, 1899, within the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart, when a Pope, in this case Pope Leo XIII, consecrated humanity to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. #SACREDHEART #IMMACULATEHEART #PRAYERSFOREVERYDAY #OFFICIALFECATOLIC
