Makers of Black Memories This project, in partnership with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, was based on the idea of transforming the experience of organizing and making available the memory, collection and legacy of Casa Sueli Carneiro into a training process, creating and/or strengthening capacities and conditions so that other similar experiences can take place and connect and contribute to the revelation of black memory in Brazil. MODULE 1: TEMPORALITIES, MEMORY AND HERITAGE In addition to Western chronology, Afro-Brazilian cosmogonies have different and complex perceptions of time. The Bakongo cosmogram, for example, systematizes cyclical temporalities based on the idea of kalunga. These meanings of time will be presented in dialogue with historical time and theories of memory construction and dissemination. About MÃE MENINAZINHA DE OXUM With a life dedicated to preserving the traditions of Candomblé, Mãe Meninazinha de Oxum founded Ilê Omolu Oxum in 1968, based on the legacy left by her saint-mother and maternal grandmother, Iyá Davina de Omolu. A writer with extensive experience in Afro-Brazilian culture, she has worked on several socio-cultural projects of Ilê Omolu Oxum. For her work in the field of Afro-Brazilian religious tradition and human rights, she received the Tiradentes Medal from the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro. She launched her biographical book with the support of Petrobrás, História de uma Meninazinha, O Legado Ancestral and recorded the CD Cantigas para orixás. In 2023, she was honored by the Unidos da Ponte samba school, with the theme “Liberte Nosso Sagrado – o certo ancestral de Mãe Meninazinha de Oxum”.
