Mustafa Öztürk is a Turkish theologian and academic who has worked in the field of tafsir and Quranic studies and has written various scientific works. Öztürk is especially known for his historicist, modernist Islamist, and Quranic Muslim views. Mustafa Öztürk is against looking for scientific miracles in the Quran, which he considers to be a Western imitation. He rejects claims that there are scientific miracles in some verses. He claims that the Quran does not provide information about the formation of the universe, humans, and other living things. He left the academy in December 2020 in response to the attacks from religious orders on his interpretations and exegesis of the Quran while he was a member of the academic staff of Marmara University Faculty of Theology, and Cübbeli Ahmet's statements about him. Öztürk was accused of being faith-shattering, distorting the Quran, and attacking the Quran in some Islamic and religious orders. Arguing that there were erroneous parts in the translations on the market, Öztürk also conducted his own independent Quran translation study, which was also criticized. Öztürk, who received an invitation from Münster Wilhelm University's Islamic Theology Department in March 2021, continued his academic studies in Germany.
