This is the first video in a series on working with modern CNC milling machines. In the series, we will successively deal with 2D, 2.5D, 3D, 4D and 5D operations, but first it is worth understanding modern milling processing in general and a milling tool for simple operations in particular. We know for sure that in order to effectively use a modern CNC milling machine, you do not need to get a specialized education, you do not need to become a certified milling machine operator, you can remain a designer, physicist, mathematician or programmer. Our video tutorials are intended for fans of digital production - those for whom a milling machine (3D printer, laser, soldering iron, hammer and pliers) is not an object of research, but a tool that helps in the materialization of their ideas and plans. First of all, we see such fans of digital production among our students, but we hope that our stories and lessons will be interesting and useful for a much wider audience. In this episode, we are getting ready to master the milling operation - the simplest operation for a CNC milling machine. We talk about what types of milling machines there are, how a milling cutter differs from a drill, and what types of cutters there are for contour cutting. ---------- This video uses fragments from videos from several excellent channels, each of which we strongly recommend studying: / @fireballtool - an excellent machinist and welder / @titansofcnc - evangelists of Production and shock workers of capitalist labor, titans of CNC / @winstonmakes - a master of squeezing 125% quality and quantity out of desktop machines / @nyccnc - excellent CAM/CNC product development
