Crime Scene - Episode 102 - Two Knots (1979) Wenzel Hirmer was sentenced to life imprisonment 15 years ago. He had murdered two young girls in a cruel way. It was evident that these were crimes of sexual desire. Since then, Hirmer has been under the treatment of the psychotherapist Professor Pabst and is now being released from prison. The 15 years in prison have changed Hirmer greatly. He seems to have become a calm, very reasonable, not to say well-adjusted person. However, the prison doctor does not see this as a guarantee that Hirmer will not relapse. Wenzel Hirmer feels insecure in his unfamiliar freedom. He has saved a little money, but will he find work, contacts, friends? He goes on to see Professor Pabst. He owes his release not least to his report that he should be considered cured. One night, a girl is murdered in the same way that Wenzel Hirmer killed his victims. The body is in Wenzel's apartment. He calls Professor Pabst himself and desperately claims that he found the girl in his apartment, that he did not murder her, and begs Pabst for his help. Pabst promises help, but of course has to call the police. He drives to the crime scene with Inspector Lutz and assistant Wagner. Professor Pabst has to admit that he was wrong in his report about Hirmer's recovery. It is obvious that Hirmer has relapsed. He cannot help the fugitive Hirmer, who is clinging to him, but must help to catch Hirmer. Although the evidence is overwhelming against him, Hirmer, who appears distraught and helpless during interrogation, firmly denies having committed the crime. Lutz and Wagner are not happy with their easy victory, they start again from the beginning and gradually discover inconsistencies in the chain of evidence.
