Tashara used to be a bustling river port. Cargo ships scurried back and forth along the Ob River, transporting timber and building materials from south to north and back. And on the rural bank, numerous port cranes bent their long necks. The village of Tashara, located a hundred kilometers from Novosibirsk, was an important transit point for the movement of goods across the vast country. But in the 90s, the logistics built over decades were disrupted: large construction projects were curtailed, logging enterprises were closed, so the need for a river port disappeared by itself. Today, Tashara looks like an ordinary Russian village - with slanted wooden houses and slush on the streets. Only a couple of remaining port cranes remind local residents of the turbulent past. However, the villagers have not lost hope. After all, several years ago, regional authorities began talking about moving the Novosibirsk cargo port to Tashara. And although things have not gone beyond talk yet, the villagers believe that someday cargo barges will line up along their banks again. And long ship horns will sound over Tashara again. *** Subscribe to CURRENT TIME.DOC - / currenttimedoc
