On Radio Night (Sundays 11:30pm), Takuro confessed for the first time that he had throat cancer in 2014 and had undergone radiation therapy. In the second half of the show, Takuro began by saying, "This is the first time I've told you this..." and confessed, "In 2014, a foreign body called leukoplakia was found on the vocal cords of my throat. I had surgery under general anesthesia, but when they removed the body and examined it, they found that cancer had been found again." Takuro has revealed that he had lung cancer in 2003 and had surgery to remove it, but this is the first time he has spoken about throat cancer. After the examination, he went to the hospital every day for two months and received 10 minutes of radiation therapy. "(After the treatment) I couldn't get food down my throat. I couldn't speak. My throat was always sore. I suffered from pain for about half a year," he recalled. His wife, actress Aiko Morishita (60), supported him during his battle with the disease, and he returned to the stage in 2016. Takuro said with tears in his eyes, "I thought many times that I couldn't sing anymore, but my wife encouraged me by saying, 'I'll definitely get better.' I couldn't swallow food because of the pain, so she made me porridge every day." He also announced that he will perform live at Kanda Kyoritsu Auditorium in Tokyo for the first time in 40 years on July 10th at the 65th anniversary event of Nippon Broadcasting System. He will start a live tour in May, and he said, "I have about three ideas that are different from the main tour." The show will air its final episode on the 31st.
