I purposely exclude our beloved pentatonic scales, which of course we all love, but which are already well known and used, especially in Blues contexts. We will use this classic progression as a vehicle to squeeze out the possibilities when improvising, without adding new chords or doing any kind of reharmonization, but keeping the basic I IV and V chords of the well-known 12-bar blues intact. In this first part I show the first two levels including triad pairs, diatonic triads, fourth chords, chord scale and how to carry out their study. In the next part I will show you the following two levels including extended chords and fourth harmony.
