After settling down in New Zealand for 26 years, I thought I could finally catch my breath. However, I suddenly heard about my mother’s illness. After much thought, my son Junyong made a decision. He decided to return to Korea. The reason was clear, and it was to avoid regrets. He vowed to build a house for his family who had returned to Korea with him without saying a word, and he built a house for his elderly parents and his family of four in Okcheon, Chungcheongbuk-do, his parents’ hometown. The designer of both houses was his nephew. For his grandmother, who uses a wheelchair, he designed the entrance to the house as large as possible, and eliminated all thresholds in the house. He also designed it as a one-room apartment so that there would be no inconvenience in the wheelchair’s path. The designer nephew personally measured his grandparents’ physical measurements and considered the height of the windows, faucet height, sink height, door width, and even the width that a wheelchair could pass through. The house where the family of four lives has a large porcelain tile dining table that is not commonly found in private homes, and he personally made a system upper cabinet that opens and closes automatically. This is an expression of gratitude to his wife through space. Also, in order to create an atmosphere similar to the high ceilings of New Zealand houses, the ceiling height was designed to be 7.4m. The spacious attic is a space for children, and for children who love books, he personally made a bookshelf on one entire wall. It is so large that children can tumble and play. This is why he built the house using H-beams and sandwich panels. If you can work with high airtightness, you can quickly and economically build a house with a high ceiling and safety. Let's go see the house that Junyong, a New Zealand carpenter who returned to Korea to build his parents' house, built for his family! #ArchitectureExplorationHouse #NewZealandCarpenter #ForeignCarpenter #HBeam #Single-familyHouse #HouseBuiltbyCarpenter #Lifestyle
