Service by Renata Semizzi. Mount Tabor is a large mountain, on whose summit the Transfiguration of Jesus has been venerated since at least the 4th century. Here at that time, in fact, there was a monastery and three chapels, in memory of the three tents desired by Peter. After many stormy hardships and destruction, the Franciscans decided to start a Basilica worthy of the place in 1921, entrusting the construction to the young and enterprising Italian architect Antonio Barluzzi. The construction of the Basilica involved difficulties of all kinds for the transport of materials and for the start of the construction site. On this occasion, the ruins of the Crusader monastery and the older ones were also arranged. Renata Semizzi guides us on a visit to the Basilica and the surrounding ruins, without forgetting the sanctity of the place.
