The successive visits of Iranian officials to Syria carry veiled messages about the nature of the new relationship between Syria and Iran. Two days after Larijani's visit to Damascus, the Iranian Defense Minister visits Damascus to meet his Syrian counterpart to discuss ways of military and security cooperation between the two countries, based on an invitation he received from Damascus. The visit and its content raise questions about whether the aim is to try to control the factions loyal to Iran, after the repeated Israeli attacks on Syria.
