In 2006, the Al-Salam ferry set off on a seven-hour journey from the port of Duba Governorate in Saudi Arabia to the port of Safaga Governorate in Egypt. After two hours of sailing, the accident occurred, the ship burned and crashed, more than 1,000 people died, and more than 400 survived. The sinking of the Al-Salam ferry left a deep impact on the memory of the Saudi and Egyptian people. My guest in this episode is Muhammad Al-Mashout, one of the survivors of this accident, to tell us his story. Muhammad lived through difficult moments and many attempts to survive, starting from the moment the fire broke out on the ship, and he lost his cousin, and the passengers fought over the life jacket, and they fell one after the other, and he clung to a piece of iron so he wouldn't fall into the sea. Muhammad describes the scene as resembling the Day of Judgment, the explosion of the cars that were on board the ship, his fall into the sea among the corpses and luggage, and his sailing alone in the dark of night. Although he saw a ship passing by, it did not offer any help. Mohammed tells many stories and scenes that he will never forget, being at sea for more than 24 hours, the waves moving him, and people dying in his arms.
