Intelligence research is a controversial field of psychology. In a recently published book, the author undertakes to review the often provocative, but now difficult to question, results of intelligence research. For example, he argues that intelligence has a serious impact not only on our progress at school and at work, but also on our health and life expectancy. But it also becomes clear from the research that our social situation is also strongly related to our intelligence, the individual differences of which are mostly of genetic origin, which is now confirmed by molecular genetic studies. Yet the most surprising fact is that adult intelligence is only minimally or not at all influenced by the family environment in which we grew up, and this is difficult to influence even with education and training. The latest research results also raise a number of ethical dilemmas: in the industrialized world, natural selection works against intelligence, so it is feared that in the near future there will simply be no more capable people who can operate a modern society. We discuss all this in today's podcast with Przemysław Péter Ujma, a research psychologist and author of the book in question. Péter Ujma on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...
