Precious, can you believe that in this city they offer water with and without gas, for free? 🙃 We passed by Parque das Águas and visited the factory store of Doces São Lourenço. Then, we continued our journey to the surprise city... The main objective of this episode was to spend the weekend in Monte Verde (MG), in the Serra da Mantiqueira, where we saw several Defenders, enjoyed the Christmas decorations, fed squirrels, walked through the Puss in Boots forest, visited two chocolate factories, ate chocolate and were invited to a fondue party at Alpminas! It's a lot of fun, lots of cool things to do, the city looks like Gramado, in the Serra Gaúcha, but it's located in the Serra Mineira, wow! Monte Verde, still a district of the city of Camanducaia, in Minas Gerais, is 1555.5 meters above sea level and has about 4180 inhabitants. The small village emerged in 1950, when the Latvian immigrant, Verner Grinberg, transformed a farm in the district, with the intention of referring to his home country. Verner came to Brazil in 1913, when he was only 3 years old. His parents chose Brazil for its forests, year-round good weather, where everything that is planted grows, unlike Northern Europe. The origin of the village's name was suggested by Verner's wife, who suggested paying homage to the Grinberg family. In German it means (Grün = Green and, Berg = Mountain). And so, the small farm became the village and district of Monte Verde! For us, it was an incredible surprise to discover Monte Verde.
