Surah Ash-Shu'ara was revealed in Mecca. It is said that verses 224-227 were revealed in Medina. It has 227 verses. It takes its name from the word اَلشُّعَرَاءُ (Shu'ara) which is mentioned in verse 224 and means "poets". The surah is also called "Ta. Sin. Mim" and الجامعة (Jamia) because it contains the stories of several prophets. It is the 26th surah in the official order and the 47th in the order of revelation.
